What a week.

So much has happened this week.
The May 15th event was canceled primarily because of a scheduling conflict with Belterra that originated from the April show. We are going to cut down on the number of shows we have at Belterra and are going to focus on selling out less shows instead of selling half the amount on more shows, and broadcast them on live national television which should begin with July 17th. More news on that soon.

Brandy and I have been doing really well. She’s really turning out to be quite an impressive woman which for me is such a rarity. Shes gorgeous of course but shes such a huge contrast from what I’m used to. I hate to compare her to my ex but there really is no comparison. She’s very intelligent, driven and strong. She sees things through and doesn’t just run around causing trouble while blaming everyone else. Shes apparently very loyal and works hard. She was at skyline for 16 years, working her way up! She was a nanny for 4 years. I mean, seriously? I found a real woman instead of perpetuating my cycle of dating confused and selfish girls who wont grow up. The hardest part about dating Brandy is getting used to normalcy. Having someone genuinely interested in things other than herself. I actually have to explain my day, how things went, good bad and ugly. haha I kinda like it. Her and I are going to take the girls to the park tomorrow. She hasn’t met the girls yet but tomorrow his her birthday and we are going to celebrate. She will be my friend Brandy. No affection or anything confusing in front of the girls we both agreed. Just having fun!!!!! I’m excited!

The gym permits and architectural drawings have been submitted and we are gearing up for a crazy 30 days of build out. 42 days and counting until we open, though we are going to be ready to begin signing people up in a week.

Roger Bowing making his Strikeforce debut on May 21st. Going to be such a tense evening. LOTS of people are coming to Fox & Hound in Mason to watch it together. Lot of people with the Big Show will be there, ring girls, fighters, friends and family. Going to be a fun night. Man, what a big deal that’s going to be. I talked to Showtime yesterday and they have big plans for Roger when he KO’s Bobby. I have every confidence that Roger wont disappoint.

So much to do and so little time. I can’t WAIT until the company is generating enough revenue to afford me an assistant. I desperately need someone to take some of the load off of me.

May need to cut back on shows

There are just too many small shows saturating the Tri-State and it’s killing me. New promotions are coming and going like roaches after a nuclear war. Every show that throws a cage in a big empty room and charges people to watch amateurs with no production or anything are draining the mighty Pro/Am dollar and guys like me who put $20,000+++ into each show can barely break even.

It’s pissing me off and I have to do something about it.

Once the gym opens I may limit my Belterra shows to 4x a year until I lock in live television broadcasts and then I’m going to put some other things in motion as well. Every show that brings in 300-700 people kills me and if there are 3 or 4 in a month all over the place, it just gets stupid because a lot of these guys dont want to wait and fight on a good show, but then they get TKO’ed or KO’ed, injured etc and end up suspended so when I can use them, they can’t fight anyway. It’s crazy.

I’m about to work a serious deal and begin signing guys, pro and amateur to deals. Pros for current money deals and amateurs to something a little different. It’s time to get brilliant and start getting all “Dana White” on the Tri-State. Stay tuned.

If you haven’t yet, get your tickets to May 15th RIGHT HERE

Lacy and I were never married

I understand why everyone thinks differently, it was our doing, but Lacy and I were never actually married. We just had the kids, the house, the cars and lived together and the only thing not defining us as married was the certificate. We were engaged, but she hocked that ring soon after we split up and bought herself a new truck. We played the role together because it seemed like the right thing to do with such a big family but there were issues holding us back from every actually making the vows.

I just wanted to clear that up for everyone.

Get your tickets for May 15th damnit! This fight card is going to be costly and I don’t see tickets rushing out. Worrying me.

Having a hell of a time!

So, I have Team Visions Daniel Strauss fighting former WEC Title Contender Carlo Prater on May 15th. Good.

I have Super Heavyweight fighter Jim Davis fighting Bobby Favors. Good.

Team Visions Chris Curtis fighting a rematch bout against Tyson Triplet. Still good.

Then I have Ultimate Fighter vet Prince McLean fighting Isiah Larson out of American Top Team in Missouri.

Still nobody 100% to fight Chris Bennett. Tough kids to get fights for.

I’ve been running around crazy trying to get all of these fights matched up and now I get to babysit paperwork! Awesome! Already had several confirmations to then have them pull out etc. It’s been a headache! No idea how tickets are selling, still dont have tickets for the fighters to sell either.

This is going to be a hell of a pro fight card though and I hope the fans realize what this all is we have going on and we have a bigger turnout than the last one. I have my doubts. The last show had some AWESOME fights if I say so myself and this May 15th show is going to be crazy too.

Brandy is making me a home cooked meal tonight! I’m kind of excited. It’s been a LOOOONG time since I’ve had anything but Carrabbas, Fox & Hound, etc. Apparently she loves to cook so we’ll see! I also got more done on my tattoo today and it’s burning like hell. Looking really nice though thanks to Bullseye Ink in Milford. Dave has been doing a hell of a job and Chris Bennett has been the one drawing it all out. Pictures are up on my facebook profile.

The gym is also coming along. Got the BJJ mats in and about to order all of the bags and sparring gear here soon as well. What a project this gym has turned out to be. GEEZ! Mind numbing how much I have going on right now and to top it all off I need to go get checked out for high blood pressure. Yaay! If things go well I will have some VERY big announcements to make within the next 30 days. Keep your fingers crossed but it’s looking good so far…not going to losen the lips about this just yet. I want the deal inked first.

Don’t forget Roger Bowling is making his Strikeforce debut on May 21st, Live on Showtime. We are having a big watch party at Fox & Hound in Mason, OH. Make sure you are there to cheer him on!

I’ll keep you posted.

Drove 12 hours for an hour and a half meeting.

So I drove to Chatanooga, TN thursday for a 1pm meeting on Friday. Almost 6 hours each way for a meeting that took an hour and a half.

It went well though and I think there is a lot of potential for the relationship. All I’m going to say right now is, nothing. Until papers are signed and the deal is done. I think this one could work out and I dont want to ruin it. It will change a lot of things though…

I’m relaxing this weekend. Not doing anything but watching movies, playing games etc. Come Monday though, I’m working all day until my list of things to do is DONE! And that includes the pro fight card for may. I’m looking for a couple 170lb pros and a 185/205 er to fight a guy thats 11-4.

Hit me up!

Oh shit! Lucas Lopes responds to my blog post.

Before you read below, know that Mojos quote in my previous post was directed to me personally on the phone. Not a public statement. Mojo would never disrespect a fighter directly in public. I’m just apparently a bad man for posting his words. But hey, the hype and tension is already building so it worked! This is going to be a war!!!!

LUCAS RESPONDS TO MMA BIG SHOW AND MOJO HORNE ON HIS COMMENTS ABOUT THEIR UPCOMING FIGHT JUNE 17TH: THANK YOU TO MMA BIG SHOW AND JASON APPLETON FOR GIVING ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO FIGHT AND ENTERTAIN AT HIS PROMOTION. “Lucas LopeS, now 19-8 with his KO victory over the also seasoned Veteran Bubba McDaniel. I tell you wh…at, for a guy that looked to be blindly swinging for the fences he did a number on Bubba who was initially handing Lucas his ass.” LOPES: THE FIGHT TOOK ONLY TWO MINUTES TO FINISH. I HAVE BEEN IN MANY FIGHTS, AND I KNOW THAT IN A FIFTEEN MINUTE FIGHT I HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO EXECUTE A STRATEGY TO FINISH MY OPPONENT. IN THIS FIGHT, HE CAME OUT STRONG AND IT WAS MY GOAL TO FEEL HIM OUT. I KNEW I COULD COUNTER HIM EASILY, AND I LANDED ONE PUNCH THAT ENDED THE FIGHT. I WAS NEVER HURT IN THIS FIGHT. “Prior to the Lopes/McDaniel fight I asked Mojo if he was still prepared to fight the winner and he confirmed he would regardless of the outcome. Mojo is dead set on avenging his loss to McDaniel whether it be by fighting him directly or fighting someone who recently beat him. That man is now Lucas Lopes. Sunday, I called Mojo and asked him if he was prepared to fight Lopez on July 17th and his response was “Yeah man, I’m gonna kill that guy.” LOPES: ON THE LAST SHOW I WAS SUPPOSED TO FIGHT MOJO. TWO DAYS BEFORE THE SHOW, I LEARNED THAT MOJO CANCELED THE FIGHT DUE TO INJURY. THE DAY OF THE SHOW I SAW HIM WARMING UP WITH HIS TEAM AND I DIDN’T SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH HIM. NOW HE WANTS TO CALL ME OUT. I HAVE OVER 40 FIGHTS AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN RESPECTFUL TO ALL MY OPPONENTS. THIS TIME WILL BE DIFFERENT. MOJO HAS 7 FIGHTS, WHO HAS HE FOUGHT? I HAVE MADE MY NAME AS A FIGHTER BY TRAINING HARD AND FIGHTING RESPECTED OPPONENTS. I HAVE NEVER HYPED MYSELF BY BEING DISRESPECTFUL. MOJO SHOULD TRY AND FIND A DIFFERENT WAY TO GET HIS NAME KNOWN IN THE WORLD OF MMA BECAUSE RIGHT NOW HE IS NOBODY. I HOPE HE PREPARES HIMSELF FOR THIS FIGHT BECAUSE I WILL DESTROY HIM IN FRONT OF HIS HOME CROWD. THANK YOU TO MY TEAM AND FRIENDS FOR HELPING ME PREPARE IN THE PAST, AS WELL AS FOR THIS FIGHT.

Unbelievable Show

I told everyone, whoever wasn’t at this show will kick themselves when it’s over and they are left only to hear about everything that happened.

A PRODIGY RETURNS turned out to be a barn burner of fights.

Chris Bennett suffered a defeat by 4-1 American Top Team fighter Tony Sims who proved to be a very calm and talented fighter through out. Rumor is Tony had 100 boxing fights under his belt and Bennett wasn’t prepared for his hands. Something just wasn’t right about The Samurai at this show. Many say the pressure of his pro debut set him off kilter a bit. I have to agree. He wasn’t the same Samuari Saturday night. Whether it was the mounted pressure of his debut or the simple fact that his opponent was one he wasn’t prepared for, we will see when Bennett steps into the cage hopefully in July.

Joe Ammerman made a solid comeback with the decision win over Ron Muir who was obviously a skilled wrestler.  It’s nice to see Ammerman back in the cage.

Lucas Lopez, now 19-8 with his KO victory over the also seasoned Veteran Bubba McDaniel. I tell you what, for a guy that looked to be blindly swinging for the fences he did a number on Bubba who was initially handing Lucas his ass. One second changed everything as Bubba laid there and when he finally was able to get up he was completely out of it. He asked me what happened. I said “You got caught bro. Knocked out” and he couldn’t believe it.These guys are amazing to me. Win or lose I have nothing but complete respect for them and talking to Bubba a bit over the weekend proved hes actually a funny character.

Since Bubba defeated Mojo Horne by catching him with an uppercut that shattered his nose causing Mojo to lose vision from which the Doctor stopped the fight, Horne and McDaniel have become friends and training buddies. Prior to the Lopez/McDaniel fight I asked Mojo if he was still prepared to fight the winner and he confirmed he would regardless of the outcome. Mojo is dead set on avenging his loss to McDaniel whether it be by fighting him directly or fighting someone who recently beat him. That man is now Lucas Lopez. Sunday, I called Mojo and asked him if he was prepared to fight Lopez on July 17th and his response was “Yeah man, I’m gonna kill that guy.”

So there you have it.

My date at the April event.

So, everyone seems to be really interested in Brandy, my date at the show this past weekend.

Brandy is a beautiful young woman I met a couple weeks ago that has turned out to be a keeper. She is a former swim wear model and Miss Hawaiian Tropic Winner in multiple states and is now a Financial Adviser. I got thumbs up from everyone in my circle so you may expect to see her again in May. :) I was nothing but impressed by not only her supportive personality the entire weekend which, lets face it, when I’m super stressed and focused on the show can be difficult to not take personally which she didn’t at all, but her interest in making sure I was relaxed and having a good time. She is outgoing and personable, very bright and full of conversation. I like her.

Due to how many people were checking her out at the show, I could say take a picture, it will last longer…or just give you one.
