Indiana (USA): MMA Big Show’s latest offering, “ONSLAUGHT,” broadcasted live on GoFightLive.com, took place this past Saturday at the Belterra Casino in Belterra, Indiana. In the main event, former UFC fighter and TUF competitor Junie Browning finished off a tough young local favorite Scott Cornwell in the first round after a valiant effort. The co-main event saw former MMA Big Show Middleweight Champion Mojo Horne get back in the win column, as he conquered Kevin Barkdull in a first round submission victory. In addition, MMA Big Show Amateur Lightweight Champion “The Samurai” Chris Bennett dominated Brian Karmolinski in their bout, prompting the post-fight interviewer to question when the 17-fight amateur veteran will go pro. In all, 14 entertaining bouts were put on, and a great show was enjoyed by the fans in attendance, as well as the GoFightLive viewers.

The crowd was firmly in the corner of the local fighters, as Bennett, Horne, and Cornwell garnered the majority of the cheers. “The Samurai” proved once again that he deserves the hot-shot status that he has gained, and he appears ready to move on to the professional ranks. But he is in no hurry. “I’m only 19; there’s plenty of time for me to go pro,” he told the post-fight interviewer after checking on Karmolinski following his TKO victory. Known for his jiu-jitsu skills, “The Samurai” opted to put his opponent away with strikes. In short, he showcased a well-rounded fight game. Regardless of when Bennett decides to make the jump, he has a bright future ahead of him.

After starting his pro career with six straight wins, Mojo Horne had lost his last two bouts. In short, he was in desperate need of a victory. Standing in his way was Barkdull, a tough opponent with good skills. But Horne’s hunger was evident, and he used his ground game to stifle his opponent and gain the rear-naked choke submission victory. Clearly relieved after his victory, Horne thanked God and exulted in his huge win. He also had a message for MMA Big Show Owner/Promoter Jason Appleton: “Put me on the January 9th MMA Big Show event.” Whenever his next challenge does come, Mojo showed he will be ready.

Karmolinski and Barkdull were extremely classy in defeat, but Browning lived up to his “Lunatic” moniker in his post-fight interview. While respectful of his opponent and the promotion, Browning made offensive statements in the interview, which did nothing but increase the boos he had been receiving from the moment he appeared at “ONSLAUGHT.” Browning exhibited great ground skills, and was able to neutralize everything Cornwell threw at him. The boos of the crowd seemed to give him motivation, and “The Lunatic” responded with an entertaining performance. Where he goes from here is anyone’s guess, but there will be lots of eyes on the young fighter, no matter what.

The full results for the “ONSLAUGHT” fight card are as follows:

Weigh ins were funny last night. Tonight, will be crazy!

So the weigh ins last night were pretty fluid. Typically, the second the fighters weigh in, everyone bolts to go eat. Last night however, was different. Junie was busy cutting a couple extra pounds and everyone that had already weighed in were sitting there waiting to see what happened with Junie. So a half hour late and Junie rolls in with a cig hanging from his lip. He weighed in one pound over. Instead of making Junie go cut the extra pound, Scott Cornwell offered to let him keep it for $100 of his purse which Junie jumped at happily.

Both fighters squared up for a photo.

Junie Browning vs. Scott Cornwell

Junie Browning vs. Scott Cornwell

Kevin Barkdull showed up pretty damn thick and ready to go against Mojo Horne. It’s going to be a very interesting fight for sure.

Chris Bennett and Brian Karmolinski is going to be exciting.

I’m also really interested in seeing the outcome of Danny Surface and Derec Gibson.

So many fights tonight I’m looking forward to.

True love is a test.

True love is always a test. It’s an on going challenge of ups and downs and a constant learning process, about ones self and eachother. Lacy and I have learned a great deal about eachother over the past 3 years. 2 children and a growing busienss though stressful in the making, have been very rewarding. Lacy and I have made amends and are working through our differences and are wiping the slate of the last 3 years clean, knowing now what we do about eachother and how to start our family over once again, the right way. We have both taken eachother for granted in many ways and and as such have learned some valuable lessons. Being meant to be together doesnt mean life will be easy. It just means life will always carry on and the love for one another will never fade even in the darkest of times. Our family is primarily important to both of us and we are moving forward with a new found understanding of eachother and our goals together. Thank you to all of my friends who have shown great support over the past few weeks during this period.

See you Saturday.

Why me?

So last night, Mojo Horne, Josh Souder, Leon Montgomery and myself go out to a bar/restaurant to have some drinks and relax before a big weekend. It’s getting late and I prepare to head on home, so I shake hands with everyone and head out. As I’m walking out, some douchebag digs his elbow into my side and kind of follows me with his arm as if to stop me. So I turn around and I put my arm on the guys shoulders, very friendly but concerned and I said, “Why would you do that bro? Why pick a fight with me? I’m a good guy, you’re a good guy.” I’m a little buzzed and trying to avoid a confrontation with some stranger I don’t know and I certainly didn’t go there to fight. So anyway as I’m talking he slowly reaches towards my hand and as I’m thinking hes going to shake it and be cool, he grabs my thumb and starts to squeeze it, cranking it back and he says “I’m an MMA fighter” and pulls my thumb back. To get away from his attempt at breaking my damn thumb I threw a right hand that sent his eyes backwards and a left that woke up back up on his way down. Everyone went crazy and started screaming and everyone kept telling me to get out of there. Apparently I took my time according to Mojo and stopped to talk to people on the way out, haha!

So I get out into the parking lot heading to my car when these 3 guys come running out after me yelling how they are going to kill me. At this point I’m concerned for my life so I stuck my keys in my hand sticking through my fingers and begin to square up, warning them about the keys being stuck in their neck. The second I said that, Mojo, Josh and Leon come charging out and start taking their shirts off and begin to square up, now it’s 4 on 3 and the guys who wanted to kill me werent so tough anymore.

Making a long story short, the guy I hit got hauled off in an ambulance and the cops had me file a report. Apparently, according to these guys they are managed by Monte Cox and train with Rich Franklin or something. Mojo called them out on it saying actually HE trains with Rich and that they were full of shit. Everyone left and there was no further incident.

Now, I’m not an MMA fighter, I dont even fool myself into thinking that as to be an MMA fighter you have to train with discipline and hard work which I haven’t done in 3 years. What I’m also not is a punk. I’ll never understand why in a giant room full of cocky pricks trying to look mean and cool, why I’m always the one that has to defend myself to the bar badass thinking he’s going to kick my ass to impress girls.

To the guy who picked the fight with me, all I have to say is I’m sorry I broke your face. I hope you learned a lesson. Being nice doesnt mean big pussy. The last guy who did that to me had his jaw wired up. Next time you feel like picking a fight, rent a video game.

And don’t EVER pick a fight with a 7ft fight promoter who just lost his wife and family!

I’m 32 years old and when it comes to my mortality or seeing my children or living another day, you better be ready to fucking kill me because I don’t play. Save the tough man bullshit for the cage. Hit me up, I’ll give you a job.

A mere 4 days away…getting tense!

So Junie Browning vs. Scott Cornwell is a mere days away. Nov 28th is coming very soon. Tickets are selling like crazy (finally), fighter tickets are all gone and the heat is on.

I just booked Junie and Shawn Tompkins to fly in on the 26th and am happy everything has gone smooth.

My birthday this past Sunday was spent with the kids and was great!

Overall, I’m single and free with two beautiful baby girls who love me and no more drama will ever be allowed back into my life under any circumstances. I’ve learned so much about so many things the past 3 years and I’m such a better man today than I was even 3 years ago when I thought I was the best I could be. I know I have a hell of a lot more patience and forgiveness in me than I knew I did as well. Everything happens to push us towards the goals in life we establish in our mind and sometimes things dont make sense, or they hurt, but as we grow stronger in life and learn from the experience, we get closer to what we work so hard to achieve each and every day.

It amazes me how many of you out there read this blog. I’m grateful to have so many people interested. Hopefully, the things I learn in life in my pursuit of love, life and happiness will help some of you dealing with similar situations.

In any case, I recently put up the homepage for the Big Show Gym website. Things are still under development but coming along now. The site is www.bigshowgym.com

See you Saturday!

Today is a great day!

I tell ya, so much has happened already today…I won’t get into everything but I will say that I just booked Ron “The Monster” Sparks to fight UFC Veteran Gary Goodridge for January 9th. A nice addition to Luke Zachrich vs. Byron Sutton for my 205 title don’t ya think?

The house feels so much lighter today! The sun is shining and it’s been a great morning!

RUMOR: November 28th – Roger Bowling Vs. Tiawan Howard

Ok, so this is all tenative right now and nothing has been confirmed just yet, but it appears Strikeforce is very interested in Roger Bowling. I’ve been talking with them for a couple of weeks but I’ve been keeping them informed of his progress over the past several months. Well, a deal may be offered soon. However, Strikeforce is also interested in Muai Thai fighter Tiawan “The Iron Dragon” Howard…

So, what I proposed is for Strikeforce Matchmaker (Dont want to disclose his name yet) to allow me to fly him out to my November 28th show where I’ll make Roger Bowling and Tiawan Howard the Main Event and Strikeforce can sign the winner of the fight, right there in the MMA Big Show cage.

They love the idea and once it’s been signed off on by Scott Coker, we will make official announcements on how this will all play out.

It’s going to be a VERY exciting, stressfull and fun event if all this plays out…

I will of course need to have all the guys I manage on the card just so (Mr.X) can have a chance to see them up close and personal in action and I assume there will be a LOT of other fighters willing to kill their dogs for the same opportunity. We’ll see how it all goes down!

OMG SO MUCH!

This week has been REDICULOUS!

I’ve been on the phone so much that my head is throbbing by 5pm. It’s throbbing now.

I can’t say a whole lot, but this week has been awesome! Expect some PPV announcements before the end of October. Someone is getting signed to Strikeforce soon. I’m getting my TV series picked up by two new platforms for an additional 22 million homes and I got the Pro fights for Oct 24th done. I’m working on November now which may contain a REALLY COOL announcement as part of it but we’ll see.

Kimbo Slice lost his fight to a fat guy who wouldn’t fight him and I feel bad for him. I have always been a fan of Kimbo personally, but this season of Ultimate Fighter is really showing me my gut was right about the guy. I would give him a big hug and let him know he’s appreciated. haha Seriously, the man is just as down to earth as you can get and he’s just trying to rise up from the world that made him a badass and I really respect his heart and determination. You can tell he’s won over Dana White too. Bout time.

Now I just need to get Mojo Horne on the next season of Ultimate Fighter. It’s long over do and Mojo was supposed to be on this past season before they went all heavyweights. We’ll see what comes of it.
